Hispanic Business Forum
Gov. Brownback to lead discussion on empowering Hispanic small businesses
The Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission(KHLAAC), the Wichita Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas Department of Commerce will host an open discussion with the Hispanic business community about economic development in Kansas.
1) The forum will begin with a panel titled “Resources to Make Your Business a Success”
Rhonda Harris, minority and women owned business director, Kansas Department of Commerce
Jamie Hofling, senior product manager, economics, NetWork Kansas
Charles Dilliehunt Jr., program consultant, Kansas Department of Transportation
Wayne Bell, district director, U.S. Small Business Administration, Wichita
2) Caleb Asher, president and CEO of Sprout Communications in Topeka, will then give a general session presentation titled “Showcasing Your Business.”
3) A second panel discussion will include the following presenters:
Pat George, Kansas Commerce secretary
Patricia Ramirez-Ceberg, president, Earles Engineering & Inspection Inc., Wichita
Diana Ramirez, owner, Express Employment Professionals and Specialized Recruiting Group, Topeka
Michael Barrera, director of National Coalitions and Entrepreneurship, The Libre Initiative
Derrick Bauer, president and CEO, Zumit Corporation
4) The event will conclude with a luncheon.
WHEN/WHERE: Registration begins at 8 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 23, and the luncheon will begin at 12:30 p.m. The forum will be held at the National Center for Aviation Training, 4004 N. Webb Road, Wichita, Kan. 67226.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the Country Inn and Suites by Carlson – Wichita Northeast for attendees who require overnight accommodations. The rate is $83 and reservations can be made by contacting the hotel at (316) 634-3900. The deadline to reserve rooms is Oct. 1.
